Kimberly Lott, Attorney at Law

Kimberly Lott was born in Indiana, but has lived in North Carolina over 30 years. She completed her junior and senior years of high school in Durham at the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics, where she currently volunteers on the alumni board. After that, she attended Duke University where she obtained her Bachelors of Science degree in Molecular Biology. Ms. Lott worked in the science, medical, and non-profit fields for several years before deciding to make a career change and become an attorney. After graduating from Campbell University School of Law, she worked at a small firm in Durham, then decided to strike out on her own. She managed her own practice for six years where she served the greater Triangle area and primarily practiced family and criminal law matters. She taught CLEs in both forensics and family law. In her spare time she enjoys being outdoors, travel, reading, and spending time with her family and dog.

Attorney Lott provides personalized service to every client. She uses her knowledge of the law and legal system to fight hard for you in your case, yet provides compassionate and individualized service.

Attorney Lott joined the firm in March. She also continues to practice criminal law, which is a new offering for Eatmon Law Firm.

Guilty Pleasure Cheesy romance novels — the free, downloadable ones from BookBub.

Vita 49; born in Cleveland; bachelor’s and law degrees from Campbell University; married with three children, five dogs, three cats and four chickens.

Why she chose to specialize in this field I worked on wills and divorces in the Marine Corps. When I got out, I worked as a legal secretary in family law, then a paralegal. Family law was my comfort zone.

Memorable case One of the most memorable courtroom moments was cross-examining an opposing party/supporting spouse who claimed to be disabled — blind, on oxygen, the whole nine yards. Videos showed our investigator having a hard time keeping up with him speed walking through town, reading a newspaper while walking, checking his watch, all with no walking cane and no oxygen tank. He was required to pay alimony.

Favorite place Home, especially when all of my children are there. It can be completely chaotic with multiple conversations, music, games, TV, etc., all happening at the same time, but there’s no better feeling than having everyone together under the same roof.

Recent reading I typically read a business-related book at the same time I read a cheesy romance. Recently, I read Deep Work (the business book by Cal Newport) and The Doctor Wears a Stetson (a western romance novel by Anne Marie Novark).

Passions Animals, children, triathlons.
